Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
As the population in Vietnam continues to grow, the demand for cheap energy also increases, and the reliance on fossil fuels is creating drastic changes to our climate. To help the environment, the need for energy productivity advancements, and ensuring accessible, affordable, reliable sustainable and modern energy is vital.
Goal 9: Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure
More than 4 billion people still do not have access to the Internet, and 90% are from the developing world. Bridging this digital divide is crucial to ensure equal access to information and knowledge, as well as foster innovation, facilitate international trade, and enable the efficient use of resources.
This COVID-19 crisis has also revealed the urgent need for resilient infrastructure, with the accelerated digitalisation of many businesses and services, including teleworking and video conferencing systems in and out of the workplace, and access to healthcare, education, and essential goods and services. This also includes IoT and Manufacturing, which is one of JICA’s priority for cooperation with Vietnam.
Goal 13: Climate Action
Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Climate change is affecting every country. Changing weather patterns, rising sea levels, and extreme weather events are disrupting national economies and affecting lives.
Goal 2: Zero Hunger
End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
Despite achieving substantial improvements in the global hunger index, poverty remains widespread in Vietnam among ethnic minorities living in remote mountainous and rural areas. Fifty percent of the population still lives on less than US$2 a day and many remain vulnerable to sliding back into poverty as a result of either economic shocks or natural disasters.
Goal 3: Good Health & Well-being
Autonomous technologies and contactless solutions to overcome business continuity challenges posed by COVID-19; and ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
The world is facing a global health crisis unlike any other — COVID-19 is spreading human suffering, destabilising the global economy and upending the lives of billions of people around the globe. The United Nations Development Programme highlighted huge disparities in countries’ abilities to cope with and recover from the crisis, and this has shown the critical need for health emergency preparedness and for investment in critical 21st century public services.
Goal 4: Quality Education
Vietnam still faces challenges in providing accessible quality education for lower secondary education and in remote areas. Female students and ethnic minorities face greater challenges in accessing and completing education.
Goal 7: Affordable & Clean Energy
Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
As the population in Vietnam continues to grow, the demand for cheap energy also increases, and the reliance on fossil fuels is creating drastic changes to our climate. To help the environment, the need for energy productivity advancements, and ensuring accessible, affordable, reliable sustainable and modern energy is vital.
